JAMB Update

The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) on Friday in Abuja
released the result of the 2010 Unified Tertiary Matriculation
Examination (UTME), barely six days after the examination.

The Registrar of JAMB, Prof. Dibu Ojerinde, while releasing the
result, said that 1,375,652 candidates applied for the examination,
while 271 candidates sat for the examination in six foreign centres.

He said that out of 1,276,795 candidates who sat for the examination,
the results of 1,228,607 candidates, representing 96.23 per cent, were
released.

``The results of 48,188 are still being screened before it could be
released,'' he said.

Ojerinde said that 501,463 candidates scored 200 marks and above,
while 832,434 scored 180 and above.

He added that 330,971 candidates scored between 170 and 179 marks.

The Registrar said that results of 20,780 candidates from 28 states
were being withheld for further verification and screening after
investigations.
